Lady in White

Dress: Value Village
Belt: a store in Winnipeg on Osbourne St.
Shoes: Value Village
Purse: Chelsea Flea Market
This is Lindsay. Her belt is black with white polka dots. I haven't really spent much time in Winnipeg (just a short stop on the cross Canada-Grey Hound route), but next time I'm there I will check out Osbourne St. and hopefully get a nice belt for myself. On a side, but still Winnipeg related note, Guy Madden's My Winnipeg is a strange and fantastic movie.

Sometimes you have to show a little skin

Top: Chanel (gift from my Nana)
Jeans: BDG from Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Joe Fresh ballet flats
Bag: Muji

Thank you Nana for giving me this Chanel top (and matching full length skirt). I always thought the complete outfit would be a bit much for me to wear at once (a little too Troop Beverly Hills), but I'm starting to think it would look très bad ass with my vintage velvet Chanel combat style boots or my white Acne Niara wedges. I've been to a few white parties, perhaps I need to think about throwing a Khaki Party? Or, at least pitching the idea to the Gap's PR people.

I'm the cream of the crop, I rise to the top

On John
Tshirt: Helmut Lang
Jeans: Levis
Shoes: Converse

On Mir
Tshirt: John's old Johannesburg Tshirt
Shorts: Jordache Cut-offs from Value Village in Toronto
Shoes: Canvass sneakers from Urban Outfitters

Hanging out and jumping around Times Square. Really digging the new Strøget inspired makeover. Also really digging John's signature shoe tying technique - kind of like gladiators for men. But not annoyingly played out like gladiators (though, if you're into them, then wear them, throw-away trend fashion sucks). I think the effect is similar to Anne Demeulemeester's lace up booties, and I think its rather sexy, especially with shorts.

Trust Fund Baby

T Shirt: Helmut Lang
Sunny's: 5$ from St. Marks
Jeans: Levis
Shoes: Birkenstocks
Bike: Ross

John has a seasonal job. Seasonal jobs are the greatest as you get time off that can actually be enjoyed. This picture is from yesterday. After I was done work (my job is not seasonal) John and I rode our bikes to meet Lesley at the Gowanus Yacht Club. John rode up to my office at 6pm all relaxed and happy - looking like one of those people (that are way to young to be retired) that can be seen strolling around the city, chilling in the East Village, or eating a nice brunch/ having a nice drink at any time of day, any day of the week. Who are these people? Why is New York so full of them? Do they all have seasonal jobs? I doubt it.

Candid Camera

Tank: Alexander Wang (on sale at Barneys Coop)
Skirt: Helmut Lang
Boots: Frye
Glasses: John Lennon brand from Cohen's Fashion Optical

The beginning of tequila infused night at Jamie's apartment. I get serious satisfaction out of wearing an outfit that should cost a whole bunch but in actuality did not cost very much at all. It is also nice to know that if I am ever really strapped for cash (which is a scarily real possibility in our volatile economy) I have some heavy hitting labels in my closet that I could unload to make rent for at least a couple of months.

Boat Basin Blues

Jeans: Used Levis from Kenzington Market
Ballet Flats: Joe Fresh
T-shirt: American Apparel
Blazer: Theory
Canvas Bag: Muji

Went to the Boat Basin Cafe the other night for a Canada Day (seems to be the theme of my week) party hosted by the Canadian Association of New York. I've never really been one to officially join teams or clubs (though I was on the McGill Ultimate Frisbee Varsity B team) but CANY offered a deal that was too sweet to resist. 20 bucks to become a member,10 bucks to get into the party, show up at the party, sign in and receive a voucher for a round trip ticket to Toronto on Porter Airlines. The party was 'aight, I enjoyed drinking Molson and Labatt plus, I ran into someone I haven't seen since grade school which is always entertaining. If you are Canadian and living in NY, I highly recommend you join CANY, so that you too can reap the benefits of this brilliant promotion- unless you hate 30.00$ plane tickets and avoiding the hellish lines at YYZ.

With a flag and a trumpet got to the top of your highest mountain!

Hat: St. Marks
Jacket: Acne
Pants: Urban Outfitters
Scarf: Table runner worn as scarf
T-shirt: Urban Outiffters
Canvas bag: Muji

Last night I went with Maja (who just got an amazing hair cut), her awesome friend Hai, and Jess (who has the best hair color ever) to a screening of Björk's "Voltaic: The Volta Tour Live in Paris" in glorious high definition video and audio at The School of Visual Arts' beautiful new theater on 23rd St. It was the best concert I never went to- brain explodingly fun/beautiful/perfect. I need the LP and DVD in my life ASAP. If I were taller, I would give the deluxe 3LP, 2CD, and 2DVD edition to everyone I love.

Paper Bag Prince and Princess

On John:
Jean Jacket: Vintage
Tshirt: Hanes?
Jeans: Helmut Lang
Boots: Red Wings

On Mir:
Jacket: Zara
Hat: from St. Marks
Dress: Helmut Lang
Boots: Frye Engineer Boots

Going to meet my best friend Sarah's (Sar and I met when we were 11 and have been getting into trouble ever since) parents and sister for dinner at Falai on Clinton St. In my humble opinion Falai is one the of the best restaurants in the city. The food is insanely amazing (the Gnudi is on my list of food I dream about) and the service is unbelievably awesome. Sar's dad was initially thrown by the somewhat complicated menu and lack of Chivas (Falai only serves beer and wine, who knew?) but was quickly won over by the incredible taste and presentation of the food and our excellent and patient server.

ditsy dress

Jacket: John's vintage jean jacket
Dress: Ebay
Tights: American Apparel
Boots: Frye Engineer Boots
Sunglasses: Acne
Biked into Williamsburg with John to dine on delicious food at the Roebling Tea Room. The dress is my first Ebay purchase. Wahoo. There are a billion flowers on it. Double Wahoo. Much love to Alysha for hooking me up with the Acne sunnys- very Ozzie Osbourne, no?

Girl in Booties + Boy in Boots

On Mir:
Jacket: Vintage military jacket from the Carhartt store on Broadway
Sweater: Hemp Sweater from Organic Avenue
Purse: Vintage Gucci from Paris
Booties: Minnetonka
Jeans: Balmain.....just kidding.
On John:
Boots: Red Wings
Jeans: Helmut Lang
Sweater: Stanfield's
If I were taller I would have a pied-à-terre/ live full time in Gramercy. It is such a magical neighborhood. John and I ambled around last night admiring the loveliness and looking for a new place to eat (we settled on a Naples style Italian place and had super delicious pasta and pizza). One of the buildings I especially dig is The National Arts Club -checking out an event that is open to the public at the club is now on my list of things to do. On less delicate note, Stanfield's is an awesome company -based in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada, Stanfield’s Limited has been making hardcore underwear/workwear for burly people doing burly things since 1856. Walking around Gramercy isn't exactly burly, but John sure is a burly guy, so it works.

short shorts and a long jacket and a killer sunset

Jacket: Muji men's
Shorts: Joe Fresh
Ballet Flats: Joe Fresh
Black racerback tank: Space FB

Rooftop photo shoot at my friend Alysha's building. Alysha's roof is sick- as was the sunset we were able to enjoy from said roof. Alysha is a wizard with words and a master in the art of thrifting. Joe Fresh and Space FB are both Canadian stores. Space FB is from Montreal and kind of reminds me of American Apparel (which was born in Montreal as well) but not as awesome and a bit overpriced. Joe Fresh is kind of Old Navy-eque and is a branch of the Real Canadian Superstores- basically the largest grocery store operation in Canada. Is buying orange juice, gardening tools and ballet flats in the same place weird, or brilliant?

On my way home from work. I was craving some color because the past 2 days had been so grey. I think we left them at the bar. Bummer.

dancingshoes

shoes: nike air force 1s
this was taken on an epic spring/summer day last year that involved me, les (she's an architect. i always wanted to be one. i'm kind of jealous of her because being able to say you are an architect is just so cool, but happy for her of course, and not mad at my vocation at all) , cat power at the now defunct mcaaren pool concert venue, and a mickey of vodka craftily concealed by the tent like dress/shirt i was wearing that was sold to beacon's closet this fall.
"Now I step through the door in the flyest pair of DunksQuit lyin, you ain't seen these at Foot Locker, chump And I ain't about to argue, shoot game with you punks Who don't know Air Jordans from some Reebok Pumps" murs
